QCE Laboratories is a division of QCE, Incorporated. QCE, Inc.
has been providing raw materials to the personal care and
healthcare industries since 1989. The purpose of QCE
Laboratories is to research and develop products for
distribution to the healthcare industry that fulfill a specific
need and provide added convenience.
With
the population aging at a higher rate than ever before, we
recognized the need for products such as ours. After surveying
long term care facilities, we discovered a definite need to
provide conveniences to nurses that would not only speed up med
pass but provide quality, nutritional support to the residents
as well.
We
also know that long term care facilities are frequently visited
by the Community of Medical Services (CMS), an organization that
monitors the occurrences of Decubitis ulcers (among other
things) and for that reason, these facilities are in need of
time saving methods that can help the nursing staff become more
effective and efficient in carrying out their responsibilities.
Decubi-Vite®
addresses this need.
Bed
sores can be a very distressing concern for family members of
residents in long term care. Products such as
Decubi-Vite®
and DecubAmineTM
offer hospitals and nursing homes immediate evidence that
specific measures are being taken to address the family’s
concern for their loved one.
Decubi-Vite®
three in one
was
developed by our pharmacist (Brian Taffin) who saw a need for
combining the basic protocol for nutritional supplementation
during Decubitis therapy into one capsule for ease of swallowing
and convenience of administration (i.e. med-pass). By combining
the three most commonly used dietary supplements used during
wound therapy treatment into one capsule, certain elements of
convenience and economies of scale become evident.
DecubAmineTM
was then introduced as a protein supplement with the added
benefit of essential fatty acids, Arginine and Glutamine. After
searching the marketplace for an economical protein supplement
that provided L-Arginine and L-Glutamine with the essential
fatty acids necessary for complete cell development, we felt
this was also an area that was lacking. Once again, where most
facilities will be using a protein supplement as well as a
separate product for arginine or glutamine, we have combined the
two and added the essential fatty acids to provide a product
that will benefit the patients as well as the nurses, while
keeping costs down.
